Resignation

She gathers roses with the grace of one who challenged grief and won. In waning light, with lanterns lit and fire ablaze she settles to her solitude as the darkening warm evening wraps her in its arms and leaves her to her dreams, dreams of love and faith that will sustain her now he's gone, but not forgotten.

Beautiful, and the first stanza is magnificent. Such deep emotion expressed so concisely. Annie x

I love this, Keith. It's so great you have come to SOUP! Now I am wondering something. I always thought blank verse meant iambic pentameter that was unrhymed. I noticed this started out with iambic beat, but there are not five stressed syllables per line. maybe the lines in blank verse can be divided into smaller ones? Anyway, regardless of its form, this poem rocks.
