Remembering My Childhood
I remember being a child and looking into the sky
With my best friend by my side, we spread our wings and fly
Over the gardens and over the hills
Imagination soaring, my young mind it fills
We examined the bugs and their dark shells
The birds that flew when we ran or yelled
The softness of the grass when we were out of breath
And the small berries surrounded by a thorny belt
I remember the comfort of my friends furry head
Her wet nose nudging me in the side
Urging me to imagine, to close my eyes
To once again spread wings and take flight
