Remember When You Are Old

Remember when you are old and grey And your hands and legs tremble a bit, Forlorn beside a fire-place lit You'd sit with your fingers clasped in pray. An old tattered book upon your lap Archived in your mind lost days of old, Sweet memories in a frame of gold That would then saunter without a map. Deep furrowed brow, eyes fatigued and sore Desire to touch a bygone face, Peeled away in life’s maddening race Loved voices you'd won't to hear once more. You would hate the spell that time would cast Wanting that your scanty days just flee, Far away to some infinity That you be united with your past. ***********
