Remember When

Remember when you were very young, how we would play cowboys and Indians. We would dress up the best we could, we would come alive with our characters. Today I am the good guy and you are the bad one, tomorrow I am the bad guy and you are the good one. We would live, we would die by our toy guns. Then we would play being a bank robber, one a good guy and one the bad guy. With masks on and with our toy guns, we were off for a day of fun. The next day you were the bad guy, I was the good guy as we played until the day was done. Shoot them up shows, were on all the TV channels. Both kids and adults had their favorites, each week to watch with anticipation. Who got killed this week, who lived another week was a thrill. Guns were a blazing, both good and bad guys were full of action. We all knew, it was a TV show for us to enjoy. Remember when you were very young, things were much simpler then. All ages knew right from wrong, good from bad. Respect filled the home, love was everywhere. We knew how to play with our toy guns, we had a ton of fun. The guns were just toys, they brought out creativity and imagination. Boy how times have changed, some for the good and some for the bad. It reminds me, of the old time TV shows. Yes, a gun made a child an instant hero fighting the bad guys! but every toy gun is a mental seed for a real one, and every pretend shot is a potential dead man on the street! A great civilisation should create a violence free culture! congrats on your win!!

Thank You, for writing and for your congratulations. It is an honor to have a win. Today, the kids are very different than we were. A violence free culture would be great but it never has been and I do not see it going any time soon. We can dream about it. Have a blessed day/weekend......................

Children could still remain children even nursery schools celebrate Valentines day and a friend of mines grandson in grade 0 wanted to know if his gran could please buy him a red balloon which said I love you on it because he wanted to give it a girl friend should I kiss her when I give it to her he asked? As for guns, nowadays I don't think they should make toy ones , things aren't as they were when we were growing up. Great story though and wonderful poetry Paula Hugs and kisses, Jennifer.

Thanks for reading and for writing. Yes, times have changed and not for the good. Back then kids never thought of killing, they were just playing. It was a very different time in life. Glad you like this one. Have a blessed day/weekend writing away with hugs...............
