A very insightful write, Carolyn. And a win in Sweetie's contest too! Yes, I once tried to send out congrats to everyone who'd won in each contest - and I was here for several hours. Phew! As you say, the pop ups slow things down and having to type in the characters on the Captcha thingy is seriously time consuming. So glad your eagle won - as you joked at the time, I'd love to see the result if it got together with my seagull LOL. I think my seagull materialised yesterday - 'splat' on my shoe!

Hi, Carolyn! I have worked in Sri Lanka in the 1980ies and travelled also to Indonesia. Planting rice is a hard job for the women in these countries. I also like rice especially the Indian way. I use a lot of curry and spices in my cooking too. curcuma, which gives curry the yellow colour is a root (similar to ginger) and should be good to fight cancer....Wishing you a great weekend...Love, Gert

Yes, Carolyn, English and German are quite close and the dialect spoken in the north of Germany is very similar to English and it's called "Platt". vicunas are a smaller species than lamas, more like alpacas, but even smaller. They are roaming wild in the Andean region. I lived in Chile for a few years and also in Antofagasta in the early 1960ies and visited the Atacama Desert quite often when working at the university. Have a great weekend..Love Gert
