Written following my mother's transition from her earthly home to her heavenly home on December 3, 2012.

By Valerie D. Staton My mind swims with thoughts of yesterday... a day of unrelenting anguish and fist pounding sorrow a day never to be forgotten a day never to be relived again... a day my heart, like a vase hurled against a granite wall, shattered into a million pieces... the day mother closed her eyes for the very last time

A whole barrage of emotions come out when you lose someone close to you. It has happened to me twice now so I understand your pain. God will comfort you and heal your heart. Blessings Carl

I feel your words..."a day of unrelenting anguish and fist pounding sorrow" love that line... fist pounding sorrow is an awesome phrase. And that last line definitely punches. Excellent composition. Always, Laura

Thanks Laura! I had never lost anyone close to me. I never imagined her gone in the physical sense. It is still quite hard because I saw her everyday. It gives me comfort to know that death is not the end of our journey. May God forever bless you and keep you.

I am sorry for your loss, Valerie. You've written a powerful poem, lines 5 and 6 really brought it home. I no longer have my mom or dad or other family members either, since I am in my advanced years. And when I lost my son to illness when he was 13, that was devastating! So I can relate to your poem. A 7 rating. Blessings, Darlene
