Recess

Don’t worry about the bell that will soon be calling you back in Or the teachers who are watching you play with other kids Who know you want to be left alone, to play with bugs in the grass If it is raining, you will always have that library to stay inside and enjoy. Have fun, and savor the time that seems much shorter than it is To run and laugh and swing and jump so far that you hurt your feet. There are many games that you can play without rubber balls, But the funnest games are ones that the other kids invite you to play. Explore this school, and find new places in the playground, Because winter is the longest, dark and coldest season of all There will never be this warm and sunny day in fall So remember all you can about this short and joyous moment

Lyra, being a retired teacher, I especially have a heart for this poem. I will share this with my grandson...will save as a FAV Panagiota.
