Reborn
You came into my life with force of a raging river
My heart could not hide from the truths you forced it to see
You battered through every secret door,
And uncovered every buried treasure
Stripping me of all false robes holding me together.
Now I stand here, naked and raw,
My bare bones laid out for you to see.
As I scramble to recover lost defenses
You refuse to let me hide from your merciless mirror,
Reflecting it's light into the darkest corners of my soul.
My fearful screams for help as I am drowning
Are quieted by your sure touch.
Your hold keeps me floating till this infant self
Finds the strength to crawl,
Finding it's own stride on the new paths
You have opened my eyes to see.
Till suddenly...
I am standing straight and tall, alone in this glorious lightness.
I see your tearful eyes smiling through the brilliant glow,
And our fingertips brush one last time.
Then... I turn and spreading my wings,
Take flight.
Your voice is my guide as I navigate my storms.
Racing above the clouds,
Drinking in sunsets, kissing stars, caressing moons.
Reaching my heights, I find you
Waiting for me with open arms.
I am home...
Laying my triumphs at your feet, discarding all laurels,
To hold out to you my ultimate prize,
The gift I have carried through all my journeys,
Your heart, our precious love.
