Reading
the Word of God
injections of black ink from a foreign land
a Jewish miracle factory
three touches from God to become a saint
I had one and that was plenty
it was invisible like conception
and lasts thousands of hours
I leaf through the pages
sightless as a mole
I do not understand it
but I smell the gunpowder
Aramaic cows milk
turned into centuries old cheese
then my pensive eyes half close
under lashes that frequently
blink morse code to the angels
I feel calm and relieved
to be overlooked by the bloodthirsty ones
