Reaching For Your Hand
When light dances upon the cinder pile
and I see the final flickers in your eye
when I know my days are numbered
and I don't even chance to question why
I sit in humbled silence reaching for your hand
Mellow memories take shape in a grateful mind
promises fulfilled even when dark skies cried
dwelling on a life disappearing all too soon
paths I took and how I'll miss being by your side
I sit in humbled silence reaching for your hand
When the dove swoops down to give her last kiss
before I turn and fly off into the promised land
know that even in the last breaths I take
I'll be forever reaching for your hand
