Raven

Raven Death’s dark mistress Standing tall cloaked in black Proudly gazes grave monuments Scattered like discarded bygone trophies Unnamed menagerie of dead Waiting to enter realm With dark temptress Raven Raven Peers beyond murk Passage to uncharted depths Where no man has been then returned Revealing secrets only Raven knows Now on the wings of the black crow Scouring orifice Along with lady Raven Raven With heart ice cold Towers in obscure mist Relishing torment befalling Undesirable soul’s ultimate fate In the sweltering tomb of hell Eternity’s torture Escorted by Raven Copyright © 2011 By Caryl S. I had only read a couple of the poems and wanted so badly to enter but...too many things were going on and didn't get to. I knew Constance would have a time selecting her winners. There is a long list of winners here. You should be so proud of your winning poem congratulations Caryl. Love, Carol

A rictameter proves to be an effective way to convey descriptiveness without writing a long poem. Congratulations on winning in Constance's contest with this fine entry, Caryl.

This is very well written to evoke a somewhat "spooky" feeling as the Raven prepares to enter the "menagerie of dead." Excellent entry for Constance's contest, Caryl. Wishing you success! Love, Carolyn
