I remember my comment... scars remain as does resilience. Sometimes I still need to scream

I too was abused, and the title of your poem as well as the content, touched me deeply. Our past doesn't define us, even though it can be hard sometimes to escape it.

Amen Darren. Wounds heal. Scars still remain. Resilience is born out from the pain.

Hi Holly, I'm not familiar with the song. However, your poem moved and touched my heart. I know the pain abuse, I was abused as a child. Your definition of "Rape" was spot on, it does that and so much more. Your second half was so empowering and encouraging, it also showed tremendous strength. Kudos to you for writing such a write. Victimization doesn't define us. Our own power to heal with our artistry reveals.... that we are powerful...and people who show us love along life's journey...reveal those wounds.... there energy tells us it's time to heal..and reveal...and not be afraid... of the hurt we carry inside...healing is loves revealing.

At face value it doesn't appear like it should be deep (with the exception of the title) but the display of phrases at first glance seems kind of fun and happy. Well that wears off instantly when reading has started. The first half of this disgusted me, not the poem, the actions, the pain, the disregard for a human being but the second half was encouraging and strong. You did a fantastic job with this Holly.

This is my healing. Leaving bleeding . To really feel. To really heal. The song is a metaphor for how you really feel until you really heal.
