Rainy Days
My alarm clock sounded early that morn
Just before the rooster crowed for dawn
I hit the button then turned to snooze
As thunder rumbled and rain ensued
The raindrops tempo on my window pane
Played a rhythmic beat to thunder's refrain
I got my umbrella and went outside
I picked up the paper and went back inside
Though rainy days often give me the blues
It also reigns as the crown of my muse
So I sat back and closed my eyes
Dreaming of sunshine's warm prize
