Sometimes you see something beautiful Today it was raindrops on a bin All lined up, sharing a space with a web So on the way to school we looked Finding pretty raindrops Stunningly adorning cherry blossom Dreamlike on a skeletal hydrangea Dangling from railings like chandeliers The conifers were full of colourful snails Making their way up to somewhere Plus one slug that clearly had FOMO Then I found big puddles to get the mud off my boots And my littlest one found teeny puddles so she didn't get wet socks Teeny puddles still splash I briefly attempted to demonstrate whale song as part of a game we play and was advised against it I played some on YouTube to show I wasn't actually far off But the dog wasn't keen And I'm inside an empty house now (The dog under blankets on the sofa fully aware there was once a rule against that) The rain is still falling This time I'm aware of the tune And the chill in the air But I'm glad I experienced the part of the morning that I curated for myself In the middle of everything Things are still beautiful

WOW This is so wonderful. It brought back memories of walks to school with inquisitive children who loved to investigate and discover as we walked. Your poem is natural and splendid in its candor, even to the slug not wanting to miss out. Yes D rain on top of a bin can be beautiful, so is your poem Fave and it should be POTD If someone has some sense it will be.

It's lovely to capture moments like this, now I've got one child at high school it highlights how fleeting this time can be x

Rain occasionally works as a prompt to change boredom. This was a splashingly wonderful poem.

This one starts out very psychedelic Dilly, all the mundane things seem to have an extra dimension in your poem, then the fun splashing around in puddles, sounds like you were on top of the world today, love the youthful exuberance in this one, cheers David

My young child and dog protested haha I'm going to take that as a sign that it's not a show I should take on the road :D

It's just pockets of time that I can still claim really. Just hoping to somehow build resilience with moments like these. I did in fact have fun skipping after school then met my friend in the pub for an hour later - so if I do some adding and subtracting then the day has been alright. I try and bring my A game to walking to school and keep it fun

Dear DD, I loved how your poem beautifully captures the magic of finding beauty in the simple moments of everyday life. From raindrops on bins to colorful snails on conifers, you vividly show appreciation for the world around us. It's a call to embrace the small joys amidst the chaos. DD, what a heartfelt reflection on finding beauty in the midst of it all. - Blessings, Daniel
