Rainbows
As a child I wondered at the wonder of it—
A rainbow arching the sky after a spring rain.
I asked Mother, who said God the heavens lit.
As an adult, I accept her answer the same.
I think rainbows are God’s way of saying,
“Don’t forget, I’m still here watching you.”
He wants us to keep the faith by praying,
And to take care in what we think and do.
I know some will say I’m naïve and awry.
Science answers my question, they explain.
But I prefer to think God paints the sky
In seven colors to remind us of his domain.
