Rainbow Dreams

RAINBOW DREAMS What would I not give for the wonder In the eyes of a little girl Somewhere on the edge of the horizon A game of peek a boo Comes alive when giggles dapple The sunlight’s foray through the window bars Suddenly activity becomes urgent and a shower of babbles Burst forth in happy momentum And you are the sun Rainbows are the stuff life is made of The marriage of the rain and the sun When on a battered scooter youth meets old age in the street corner These are the dreams of a teacher Weaving fabrics with tattered threads The colours vibrant in fading eyesight Like the smart salute of the girl who cried in your class everyday

Thanks Linda, Yes the story is true, a girl who is now an army officer, cried in my class very often, for no reason at all.

Welcome, Nivedita! Your poem reminds me of my poem "I wish". Very reflective rendering. Cheers, David
