Rainbow Child
Rainbow Child
I close my eyes
and see a rainbow bright.
The firm footsteps of my ancestors
echoing through the night,
and know that the red blood that flows
within my blue veins are a living,
surviving part of them.
Even though they are long gone,
their essence will never die
because I will carry on their sacred legacy,
I am their rainbow child!
Spain, Mexico, Africa
cry out loudly to me –
you are our brown skinned progeny,
you are our rainbow child!
