Rainbow

Perennially scourged Always on the run Panicked at heart Incessant gunshots Lost I my parents, my kid brother My elder sister kidnapped I saw my people marched in herds to the distant valley I know they will never come back The raindrops still drench Treetops, sprawling fields The clouds still gather Over mountain ridges Afghanistan, Gaza strip, Iraq The images are blurred Hushed procession of faceless men Borders the horizon like standing corpses Yet I stretch I jump I heave To Touch for once The all- embracing rainbow

Presenjit, I really like your free verse version of "Rainbow." The Rainbow backdrop of your work gains significant poignancy by the quite difficult events you describe in your verse. Most Excellent Job!! Your imagery is employed quite exquisitely and to very great effect!! I am rating you a "7" on this work. Coincidentally, I had just posted my work too today on the same subject "Rainbow." My version is a rhyme ABAB. My narrative is different though. You should check it out. Cheers, Gary
