Quiet Champion
You’ve emptied yourself,
Abandoned giver of everything
Drifter into unknown seas
You can’t see your mirror
Covered, stained with deep self-pity
Riding high the back of sorrow
Tortured, broken.
You’ve emptied yourself, again
I bare witness, again
Shed more tears than I care to
As many times necessary
I will lift you up
You will see what I see
The leaves on the trees will green
Birds on their limbs won’t be silent
The quiet champion in you
Will rise to reclaim glory.
