Queen of the Forest

Impetuous youth Scoffing death Among majestic trees That embrace the night sky And me Fervidly racing time To revel in one of life's Few euphoric moments Hidden in the folds Of its somber face Armed with a candle I chase hungry shadows away And frolic atop perilous rocks To crown myself Queen of the forest Nature humors me Its nocturnal chorus sings While the trees Bow their heads In the gentle breeze My candle does dance In the silent storm Yet I fear not The darkness of death Only the ebony of existence.
