Quarantine
I float about
From room to room
During this time on earth,
Quarantine,
Engulfed in what appears to be
A small
Pageant of action,
As I lasso the thoughts
Of yesterday,
And tie them down,
Now they’re wild ponies grazing
About my mind.
Lying sideways on my green couch
I can hear that eternal roar of the Pacific Ocean,
That giant body,
It has nailed me down here for decades.
I make the bed, you showed me how to do perfect hospital corners, the military taught you,
And I wonder how many will die today,
As the silence greets me like a chopped down tree,
And yet, I love you still.
