Pure Sin

The foreman leaned forward in his chair, at the head of the long oak table, a decision to make was rare, he was hoping they were able to find this guilty woman innocent. After years of abuse, she killed her spouse, that rat, that mouse, the choice was difficult and so complex, glancing from one face to the next, guilty came, more than once, guilty was repeated the same, and with no shame, the foreman shook his head as he tried to release the pain, he knew what she felt, he wanted to help ease her mind, but not with these jurors, and not at this time, they took the verdict hostage, and there was nothing for him to do, fingers were pointed to her, to him, to you, of course, he had no recourse, he simply wanted the woman to walk, but he was afraid to speak up, so he didn’t talk, she killed the man of pure sin, but her guilty verdict was his win.

This all too often happens in the world. Domestic violence at a high and at times in rural areas it is a challenge to even get help for the victims, so they stay in abusive situations, one for their self esteem is broken, thinking that they cannot get out of a relationship alive... Domestic violence hurts everyone involved... the children suffer the most when in situations like these. Very well written piece to provoke thought!
