Protect Me
My heart belonged to you, that was never a lie,
But I never felt good enough inside, and I asked the Lord why,
It took me so much time to see,
I needed to go back home in order to find me,
I had to see where it began,
I had to fix my heart all over again,
I needed to know how important I was,
I needed to know that I was really loved,
So much abuse I didn't know where to begin,
Beaten so badly I couldn't recognize who I am,
In my heart I knew the abuse wasn't the truth,
And when I looked in your eyes I saw me in you,
My heart went into shock, I saw you in a dream,
And in those dreams you were always hiding me,
Protecting me over and over again,
I love you so much, you are my friend
