Proof of Life
I'd wished I could change into a pool,
then evaporate and turn to vapour,
to leave no trace, no one to fool,
no nice lies to be written in the paper
No marks, no scars on other's hearts,
no tears to dry, no longing feelings
there'd be no pain to be apart,
no need to grieve, no need for healing
It seemed so simple, a noble cause
to not exist, to disappear
if I'd never been, I never was
So why then, should I still be here?
But marks I've left, yes sometimes deep
from pain and feelings I have shared,
these gifts of life that make us weep,
they are the proof that we have cared
