Promises
Thank you for the promises
You gave me hope to cling to...
To carry with me all my life
I've kept them in my backpack
I've seen them written in the sky
I've seen them in the sunrise
I've seen them in my children's eyes...
Thank you for the promises
I've felt them soothe my spirit
Like the sunshine gently warms the grain
Like the moon shines over sleeping hills
And the dawn brings sound of needed rain
And now I sit here upon the steps
that I have always known
I recall that endless summer eve
that went beyond the river's calm....
A promise made, that you would be
always here,....right next to me
And now that I have grown,....
I look, but I can't see you,....
But, I can feel you in the wind ..................
