Prisoner of words I am Chained in a cellar of sentences .... no .... lines I'm a poet, I think images think metaphors similes Prisoner of words locked up in brainless nights where only dreams rule blind wanderer between spoken sentences arms outstretched until they meet a wall a fork to scratch what needs to be written Prisoner of words in a world that wants stories quick media fast food not the chewy kind not the slow cooking sort not umami not duende I am a prisoner of words I wouldn't want it otherwise. *** August 3, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

Me neither Darren. This is a terrific piece of work. It is work writing poems; of the nose to grind stone kind.

Just adore this, my friend, everything about it, and I'm fav-ing! Yet words have set me FREE!!! Ah, another dichotomy ... the glorious ambiguity of the creative spirit!

This is brilliant, Darren. When I get an idea it nags away at me until I have worked it out. Love the layout. // Barry.

Yes! I have gotten up in the middle of the night to write down a line or an entire poem, because you have to heed the call, otherwise it's gone. Love the phrase "prisoner of words" - it's so apt.

Haha, yeah, isn't it Agnes. Also isn't it strange how our minds wake us from sleep prompting us that we need to jot something down?

3 in the morning.Sitting on edge of bed. "What on earth are you doing ?" says my wife." I'm writing a poem" I say. "Oh no , not again" she says. And yes, the words would be gone by morning light. You've expressed it beautifully. Well done.

Oh so true Darren when a poem comes into my head I have to grab a scrap of paper or a notepad to write it down or its lost forever:-)It's not so bad now but when I first started writing I would wake in the middle of the night and have to write my thoughts :-) hugs jan xx
