Prince of Promises

A lonesome Cinderella cold-kissed by midnight hours. I'm damned to want more than I need and chase the dusk into the dawn to lay a wish upon a star before the magic is all gone. I hang my heart on moonlit words and magic gone when day recedes, gone with the empty promises tied round my smile by cursive tongue. The weight of waiting dawns me down but still the bridge to Evermore is something I've not found. He's my Prince of Promises, he's not the King of Evermore he quests through random chapters of a fairlytale where I am cursed but never speaks of love, of more than quenching restless thirst. I know he'll ride through me again, he'll whisper in the dark he'll tell me all I need and ride off again and take his heart and I'll be here, dumbstruck again, my prince forever leaving cause I'm chasing tales and spinning dreams caught up in games of make-believe.
