Precious Autumn Leaves
When with closed eyes in Autumn's eves of gold-
I drift to thinking all about that Fall-
where our young daughter moved in Florida
to find a job she loved and could uphold.
We live up North where seasons are fourfold;
come Autumn- Summer's green begins to turn
to burnished colors- orange, gold, and red-
and 'round bonfires, all watch the flames unfold.
Oh, how she missed the Autumn scenes so bold
and bright, while southern steady greens remained.
She yearned for scents of fires and burning leaves;
deep in her heart, she could not be consoled.
We found the largest box to fill and hold
a mound of autumn leaves- our gift of Fall-
then shipped them to fulfill her joy untold.
