Prayer of the Small Mighty
Do as you do
Let live what lives
Push as you push
He breaks as you give
A poisonous lead sits in his pit
He has been here before
Of this he is sick
Through fire and flame, droplet
and 'cane
He has been here before
Has borne such pain
Again and again
He may crack or shatter
O'er and o'er
He has no say in the matter
Do as you do
And let live what lives
Push as you push
But he breaks as you give
Silence will he breathe,
And tall standing be.
Strong as steel and of finest
alloy;
Has been since but a mere boy.
Feathered within, as cancellous
bone.
He begs for relief from this
relentless hone.
Come now and comfort,
For the storm is gone.
Come now and comfort,
I will move on.
Come now and comfort
This small child in me.
Come now and comfort,
Stop my trembling.
