Pope Francis

Pope Francis's belief in the Almighty has been brought to serious question, when, on his speech on Origins, the Bible received nary a mention - save for a passing glance at Genesis. His credibility has dwindled rather perilous it seems - considering, of course, Catholicism's typical rep of condemning holy writ to ostracism. The acolytes "explode" with his acceptance of Naturalism, Evolution and Bigbangerism. In a pinch he waved his magician's wand and pronounced all prior blasphemies - gone! God - he stated - has no such pointy stick of which to create all, with a simple flick of his wrist. The Almighty has limits and shall conform to Francis's rigid interpretation, thereof. He tips his hat in one last show of priestly decorum: I wish you all a most bless-ed novus ordo seclorum. NOTE: The term "novus ordo seclorum" is Latin for "New World Order". If you ever forget how to say it, or spell it, just pick up any American federal reserve note - it'll be right under the pyramid with the all-seeing eye.

Thanks Maureen. Not everyone would appreciate the message so I was hesitant on posting it ... but I guess at the end of the day you gotta say what's on your mind and let the chips fall where they may.

A clever, almost stark call-out here, Timothy! I think it is very well done, and I am glad you shared! "In a pinch he waved his magician's wand and pronounced all prior blasphemies - gone!" Nice lines there..very perceptive thoughts.. it is unsettling perhaps, but that is the evolving world we are living in..I don't believe the world as a whole is changing for the better, especially when the word of God is more and more omitted from our lives. Awesome ending lines! Always, Laura

Thanks Laura! It was rather a slam, and I don't know if I made too many fans of Catholics who read this poem (what do you do, I suppose?) .... but you gotta write in what you believe. Thanks for understanding and appreciating.

*Claps* Hahaha once again Timothy, your perceptiveness is so eye opening. I, too have heard of this. This world is going down, and the Pope ain't no saint. I mean come on, more and more the Bible is being taken out of so many things, and filled with what will benefit themselves. Great and bold poem!

Thanks Caleah! I was hesitant on sharing this one, simply because I know there are a lot of Catholics out there. But some things are hard to keep inside, and are actually quite damaging once left alone too long.

Yes, Liam, you are correct. I know it sounds dramatic, but I truly believe a new world order is taking over - we can't so much as stop it, but instead decide what side we are on: the World or the Word of God. Glad you enjoyed, my friend!

I was surprised to find the information as you presented it. Even the pope cannot change the work of God's hand and word.

I was surprised myself - and, of course, the pope has many followers, so this is not the best of news. He isn't so much as inviting people into his religion, as so much as inviting people into the World, and worldly beliefs.

This is very interesting, Timothy. I am not quite sure of the various things 'attributed' to Pope Francis; some are clear, others have been twisted around, and others need a deep studying. Looking at things from different angles does not necessarily mean that they have been demoted or dusted off; some things can never be changed by man, whosoever it may be. A poem this that is open for discussion...if you find any takers! // paul

I understand the importance of looking at different angles - but with certain things (as you say) there's not many other ways TOO look at it, and still keep in concordance with a basic understanding of language; of what is clearly figurative, and of what is obviously literal; when taken in context. Glad my poem inspired such an erudite comment :)

You can look it up online and hear his speech that endorses it. He worded it as such: When we read Genesis, we run the risk of thinking God was some magician with a magic wand - this is not so. Evolution doesn't contradiction Creation, for something has to have been previously created, for it have evolved."

I am the modern catholic and I believe in what is right and what I read it sound like he is doing the same.I am not sure. Oh I had to search this post because I am not getting the emails from poetry soup so I don't know what people are really saying. So forgive me I was late with this answer. blessing eve

Thanksgiving to you as well, Eve! I have to admit I'm a bit confused by your comment... you are speechless in a good way or a bad way?

I have not heard this until now so I will reserve judgement until I learn more.

Wow! Timothy....this is quite a courageous post. Yes. I understand some of these issues that you mention. I haven't delved into it, but I understand he has some thoughts that do not go with my belief system. You have worded things so very well here. Bigbangerism...what a word. Hope you don't get into too much trouble, my dear. hugs

Eileen, you're always so concerned with my safety - it touches me, but at this present moment I don't know how I'd get into trouble with this - though strange things have been known to happen! This is my first poem that coins a word - it was fun to write.

Yes, he is supporting it - he made it public in an official speech. I didn't know much about him, but when I watched the speech I felt compelled to give my thoughts on it.
