Poles Apart

Our hearts are heavy with the world's woes. It seems lies and hate follow wherever one goes. Added to that, the unjust war in Ukraine, and Earth's breath slows for she's now in pain. Greed has spilled across our beautiful land. Dollar signs seem all many understand. How to change minds that have been made, when counting millions that they've been paid. Lies float through the air, toward the absurd. Truth is out there, too, but seldom heard. Some stories I've heard beyond comprehension! But they succeed in adding to growing tension. Some days I want to just give up on Earth. It's then I turn to nature for mental rebirth. How can we not try to save this lonely beauty? We are her shepherds, it's our call to duty! Is it a pipe dream to think we can mend? or possible if our hearts can extend. Can enough love cancel all hate? We must give it a try--it may open the gate.
