Poison
Ribbons of toxic butterscotch,
dollops of blush and cream,
Amethyst incense and
innocence,
A lucid shade of green.
Notes dance on disillusioned
wings,
Insults fail to fly,
Drops of pain and suffering,
Much too weak to die.
Breathless waves and roaring
shores,
Champagne sparkles dissolve in
teal,
Effervescent memories,
What's the price to feel?
Honey, golden poison,
Drench an ebon lip,
Ivory tainted photographs,
Ashes in every sip.
Betrayal and bitter
evanescence,
Lightning stained, distant
shore,
Venomous love, both putrid and
pure,
Addictive to the core.
And, when does love become
requited?
Do the embers ever die?
Caress and pray for luminous
birth,
Or settle for the lies?
Drowning soul in seas of flame,
Shelter from the cold,
Rampant disease and
ignorance,
A prayer to have, and hold.
Sleep is sweet, nightmare
relief,
Puzzle piece of mind,
Silent din, chaotic zen,
Raptured ties that bind.
