Poems Are Dumb
Poems are dumb
No one really likes poetry
The poet may like what he has written
Few will get the real feeling the poet puts on paper
Some will relate to a poem in their own experience or fantasy
None will experience the poets feeling when it came to him
One may read a poem and feel an emotion
This emotion may or may not have been felt by the poet
The poet is the least important thing about a poem
A great poet can write a bad poem
Some may see his greatness in this bad poem
But the poet knows and feels the emptiness of this poem
A great poet needs to be dead or anonymous
If you don’t know the poet and aren’t persuaded by the poets legacy.
Then the poem has merit.
Otherwise poetry is dumb.
