Poem One Thousand

POEM ONE THOUSAND This is poem one thousand! I never would have dreamed That I would write that many, for so many years it seemed I only had some poems set with some brand new words To songs we sing so often and we have often heard. But then a great thing happened—I wrote a poem one day To one whom I respected, that God had sent my way. He read it with emotion and then looked straight at me, Said, “God could use this talent, just trust Him and you’ll see.” So I went home that evening, and simply bowed to pray, “Okay, dear Lord, it’s yours now, I give it now this day.” A quarter century later—just twenty-five short years, And God has used that talent for many folks to hear! I know not where all they’ve traveled, nor all whose hearts I touch, But I give God all the glory and thank Him very much! The greatest thing about it as I put these words in place Is that the one before it speaks all about His grace! It’s by His grace I’m given in the many times they say The very words one’s needing to help them through a day. It’s by His grace this threshold on one thousand now I stand And thank God for every poem and especially the man Who through God gave the challenge to let God guide all the way With the words in rhyme and message for the listener that day. So, this is poem one thousand! I give them ALL again! Lord, take them, use them greatly from “The Ready Writer” pen!
