Poem For a Brother

I saw you today, so fragile and alone, In the hail and the stones, But still standing tall Though lost and forlorn, With parts of You, Tattered and torn. Yet Quiet and present In the center of the storm, You touched me today And I just want to say: I see you and understand, You’re such a courageous Man To give your games a name And not go away, But stay With what is, Means for me That you are more than just ok. And shows your deep grit So don’t be ashamed For you can be proud of how you commit To grow - and permit Others to see your doubts and pain. I have deep respect for you And know what you’re going through Because I’ve been there too. I’m a little bit older So I know: Every “so called” mistake and failure Has just made me stronger and bolder. And from one old soldier To another And brother from another Mother, And from one who cares: I’ll be there, No need to hide, I’m happy to stand by your side Or to listen and understand, Or just to hold your hand And give You my back to lean on Or a shoulder to cry on, Or just to share a silent space With You. And I will always have a special place Just for you, here In my heart. © Sangeet Portals August 2022
