Playing House
You had the chance
To regroup and revisit your healing
But you hastily dismissed
Sorting out those messy feelings
I had hoped you'd take the letdown
As a lesson in personal growth
Take some time for yourself, be single, Heal your wounds, for what it's worth
But instead, along came number two
Showing her interest on New Year's Eve
This one from another other office,
An acquaintance, a work colleague
Hey, what's another 'opportune distraction'
A diversion of sorts to fill up that space
Who wants to be sad and lonely
When you can focus on a pretty face?
A little enticing, this new routine of yours
Whatever happened to the game of cat and mouse?
Three-hour drives, six hours round-trip
Heck no, just jump on in and start playing house!
I'm certain you're thinking
'What have I got to lose'?
When you can have the best of both worlds
What else would you choose?
