We love seeing a good dish, but there's never a right angle where the circumference meets the radius of a slice. Fortunately eating pie is not an exact science:

While circular area's moot 3/14 math groupies salute Approximate pi Which helps us get by Since squares within rounds don't compute

Kim, it is a funny thing indeed. I'm thinking about other days and things that we've combined culturally. However, there is nothing quite like a good home-baked pie that has the desired degree of tartness and fresh taste. I haven't made one for a while. Hope you are well.

Nice mathematical Limerick, Duke. When it comes to pie, I just take whatever is available and put it in my mouth. I love pie. :-) Thanks for sharing a little common-sense math with us, my friend. Bill

Bill, it was too tempting to write this. I also appreciate a good pie. I am very picky about it though. However, after writing this, I am looking at the plate itself in a slightly different way.

Dear Duke, I love how you cleverly captures the essence of Pi Day with wit and humor. The juxtaposition of mathematical precision and the whimsy of celebrating Pi is delightful. Your succinct rhyme scheme adds to the charm, making it a fun and memorable piece. Brilliantly crafted! - Blessings, Daniel

Thanks Daniel. I'm thinking of a drawing of the edge of a circle with little squares in it that represent area units and that there will always be a small portion not included in the total. I could think about that all day and need to stop myself sometimes. Math has some strange phenomena associated with it.

Very concise pi poem that thrills the hearts of everyone who has taken a math test. I hope you don't let anyone talk you into believing that pi is finite.

Thanks Hilda, that won't happen. It's very funny that the digits will not repeat and go on forever. Pi's decimal infinity will go much further than I.

I like how 3/14 inspires poet. Pi will always be the ongoing attraction. Thoughtful exploration, Duke.

Thanks Vijay. It's an interesting number that's also part of basic math for most of us. So, I suppose it will be as you say. Funny that there is a three significant digit approximation that lines up with a particular day on our calendar. Just a funny coincidence that inspires some of us to celebrate it.

Clever wordplay here on pie, I love the pi symbol on the pie too, how creative. Very well woven and flows with excellent rhymes as always. 3/14 math groupies salute, that line stood out for me. Deep and intriguing one. And shows your ability to look at things from different angles. Pleasure reading this dear duke.

IE, you are very kind. Life experiences tend to give us a funny way to look at things. The whole world has comedy in it--too bad there's also no shortage of tragedy. We could do without that or with a lot less.
