Phenomenon

A boat was anchored off shore. My pants were rolled to my knees And my shoes set on pebbled sand. I left footprints from the beach to silt And walked out onto the calm sea. The surface tension rippled, rippled... It gathered around my feet with each step Until I reached the boat and climbed aboard. A woman mocked me and got off her boat And began walking towards the shore. The water did not move as she walked, But soon she began to sink, sink, sink... When she had been totally submerged, She swam out of the deluge to the shore. She was saturated, gasping and ashamed. A policeman had to wade in the water to Fish out her shoes after this phenomenon.
