Phatic
As she watched the moon die in the darkest of skies
Such a longing desire washed over her soul
How she desperately yearned for a way to deny
How everything inside her was fading, unwhole
As she stared, her reflection in moonlight and glass
Caught her eye in a window as she slowly passed
And she couldn't help but notice
How she couldn't bear to glance
And watch it fade
While moonlight lingered still
-----------------------------
Bolted doors and open windows
She wakes to find wind blowing free
At her bedside, all her hollow woes
Reflected in all that she sees
Hours, she spends by candle-light
In front of silver frames and glass
Staring into reflected eyes
In hopes this emptiness will pass
Mirrors of reality, she hopes so fervently
She hopes to one day find herself, confirmed in what she sees
Silver-tainted eyelids open to an empty flame
With all her hopes and all her cares
But ashes, phoenix-named
