As she watched the moon die in the darkest of skies Such a longing desire washed over her soul How she desperately yearned for a way to deny How everything inside her was fading, unwhole As she stared, her reflection in moonlight and glass Caught her eye in a window as she slowly passed And she couldn't help but notice How she couldn't bear to glance And watch it fade While moonlight lingered still ----------------------------- Bolted doors and open windows She wakes to find wind blowing free At her bedside, all her hollow woes Reflected in all that she sees Hours, she spends by candle-light In front of silver frames and glass Staring into reflected eyes In hopes this emptiness will pass Mirrors of reality, she hopes so fervently She hopes to one day find herself, confirmed in what she sees Silver-tainted eyelids open to an empty flame With all her hopes and all her cares But ashes, phoenix-named
