Perpetual

"Not many things are perpetual. Real love, God, and hope in Him are some of the few." by poet Perpetual means lasting forever. Not many are the things perpetual. Relationships often people sever. It’s tragic, yet it seems eventual since half of marriages come to an end. So sad when one has felt love at the core. For an example, think of a best friend. You lose touch and then see that friend no more. Sometimes a great friend can become one’s foe, and not just people change or go away. Possessions break; a loved tree dies, and so for time to go on, we must lose a day. Therefore, we mate to keep life going on and hope - in death – we’ll wake to heaven’s dawn.

Thought-provoking. I liked your sonnet. You hit a nail with me "lost of a loved tree" - <3

Exploration of perpetual is a difficult concept, but you do a very fine job of it. We don't even know what came before the big bang or what the universe will end up as. Hard to know really, but I suspect something like us may have been around sometime before the Big Bang. Wouldn't it be funny if these bangs just cycled forever? That either makes sense or makes no sense. Going back in time infinitely perplexes me.

Life is fleeting, many things will be gone in time, but heaven is eternal, Very nicely penned Andrea...

This hits so strong dear andrea! I agree with you and what a realistic and profound write this is which flows with wisdom woven in such a soulful manner. I felt especially the lines “ Sometimes a great friend can become one’s foe, and not just people change or go away.” story of my life.. everything comes to an end. But we go on. Pleasure reading this. Best wishes for the contest

I agree...everything is perpetual, constantly in motion and changing. This was a profound read for me. I especially liked the last line...have a pleasant evening, Sara

Your speak a lot of truth in your sonnet, which flows really well and it seems like good iambic pentameter.. however, I am no expert on that.. all the best in the contest..

Thanks. I tried to be iambic. Once in a while I have to stray from that meter, which I did in line 1 to accommodate the end word "forever"

The quote defines perpetuity. Rest all are delusions.
