Perhaps I Was a Bit Naive

Perhaps I was a bit naive when I wrote what I wrote, and let go what crows I had locked inside. With some my message was received, but even then the waters were murky. Perhaps I was a bit selfish when I exposed myself so openly. But I felt the time for sugar had long passed so I took off this dusty coat and got unmasked. In a way it was the easiest thing in the world to put pen to paper, and then sending it off for all to see. In a way it was like letting go of a million hungry crows. They were tired of my company and so I told them "Go far and be free!". And in another way it was difficult, for I didn't wanna lie, even if a lie felt sweeter than honey to my family's ears. So I told the truth, and the truth was immature. The fact remained that I had too few years on me. Too little time on this earth to know it all. Too little experience to say, "I know what you're coming from, I know what it's like." But what in the world does that mean, coming from someone half your age? To tell you the truth I feel as though my deepest thoughts is like some hideous beast trapped in a cage. You stare at the beast until tears form in your eyes, but as soon as you unlock the door you suddenly realize, there was a reason he was caged. I meant no offense to our famous motto "In God We Trust". I believe there's something really special behind those words. Yet I was taught an enemy who tells you outright, "I'm coming for the attack!", isn't half as wicked as the man who befriends you, only to stab you in the back. NOTE: Upon reflection on writing The Golden Standard.

Timothy...I haven't been able to write earlier. Busy day at church...lead out in the Bible study today. Imagine...the topic was about justice and crimes against humanity and how God is a God of love, but also of justice. How timely. I must say...I've been disturbed by the things I've read...and my heart bleeds if I've cause you to be criticized in any way. Forgive me. I didn't mean for you to get in trouble...at all. NO...you are NOT naive, Timothy. But don't rock the boat...

NEVER say never! Our church runs the university I teach at and the headquarters of our work in the Middle East is also here. We have people from Finland, the States (Lots of Americans), Brazil, Peru, Argentina, India, Russia, Hungary, Croatia, England, living here. Got tired of counting. Some of them never want to leave. So...never say NEVER, and if you do come...welcome in our home! :)

The odds of me visiting that side of the world is very slim... but it's more inviting now that I would have someone like to take me in and show me around... haha.

I've never considered something in terms of "the right time" to express yourself on certain topics. But you are very right... it matters that your words have weight, but not everyone will accept them so readily if your timing is bad. It also cheers me up to hear you say I'm not naive. And this discussion about Paul talking to Timothy is all the more intriguing to me...

Eileen, you haven't caused me any trouble, none at all! These feelings were inside of me before I even joined the site. However I've become more bold with VOICING these thoughts, instead of just pretending to be indifferent.

Again...if you have taken a shot because of me...I'm sorry. Just know that I admire you for thinking out of the box. If you ever decide to visit this part of the world...rich in history, culture and beauty, you have a place in my home with Middle Easter hospitality to make you smile. I mean that! Anytime.....you won't regret it! :)

I teach a course at university called Writing Arguments. A good argument involved pathos, ethos, and logos...but above all...it needs kairos...(the right time). Perhaps this isn't the right time for you to deal with these issues, but I have seen a maturity in you that I don't see in many older than you are. God bless you. As Becca said...my favorite author, PAUL, got it right when he advised Timothy not to let age deter him from speaking out.

Timmy; You did a great job with this. Don't worryabout anything - at one time or another, we are all naive, but we learn as we go along..... have a great day........ Lucilla

Thanks for understanding Lucilla! You're always a very open person, and so open to things... yet firm in your beliefs.

This is very moving, it adds weight to the other piece and recognizes that we all have limitations and blind spots. Well penned and passionate. I much appreciate this message. I do also want you to know there is much about what you wrote that was true so it is good that you got it off your chest.

At the very least I'm glad it got people talking. If no one ever said anything than we wouldn't be getting anywhere... glad you were moved!

Hi Tim, Don't beat yourself up over things, peeps have different opinions on all things, I respect yours, we live a country of free speech, keep fighting your corner for what you think is right. What you've written above is the sort of layout I like to see, more poetic is the cry. Take care, Richard

This is why the people on here rock. No scorning or judging... just friendly nature and a vast open mindedness. Thanks Richard!
