Performance
The velvety tones of a saxophone
drift gently into the air,
and even the idle chatter of the club's patrons
does not spoil the effect. In fact, the spell cast
by the music causes the muttering to slowly
dissipate as each melody is recognized
with slowly widening smiles.
What started as background music
takes center stage and becomes a performance,
with the player acknowledging applause
and taking a bow.
