Performance
The velvety tones of a saxophone
drifted gently into the air,
and even the idle chatter of the club's patrons
did not spoil the effect. In fact, the spell cast
by the music caused the muttering to slowly
dissipate as each melody was recognized
with slowly widening smiles.
What started as background music
took center stage and became a performance,
with the player acknowledging applause
and taking a bow.
