People In Stores
People in stores

People in the store
Moving like zombies
Through aisles and choices
Displays of Western privilege
Marking each step
Further and further away
From the life of those who
Have little to feed their bellies
But much to fill their souls
As they form communities
Who stand together
Surviving and thriving in joy
Whilst people in stores
Buy so many things
That they don't need
Feeding empty souls
Souls that hunger for more
But being incomplete
In their aloneness
Distracted by music and media
Missing each other
Walking by others - disconnected
People in stores
Whose hearts and minds hurt
Betrayed by systems
Harmed by experiences
Flailing to keep from being
Washed away by emotions
While people in stores
Don't notice the secret signs
The need to truly connect
With each other like we could
Like we should
For we are one
The Universe's stardust
Is part of our sparkle
If only we would shine
And communicate with each other
A smile, a kind word, a helping hand
As we are not just people in stores
We are one human family
Infinite souls
Connected in eternity
Throughout the Universe and World
