Penned Promises
Penned Promises
I will give to you a bouquet of words
more fragrant than the flowers
I will choose each one specifically
from the silence of the bowers.
Imbue them with a lover’s touch,
kiss them with such passion
as to make the pages blush
at words written in this fashion.
Each petal-word fine wound to stem
will carry love’s lament
that it is now unable
to bask in your sweet scent,
hold to you in outstretched hand
penned promises on white
to guide us through these distant days
and dreams to ease us through the night.
