Pearls

I usually do not wear pearls. But today is my birthday they will stay around my neck all through the night. He was hopeless at presents. He always brought me one of course. For birthdays, anniversary and Christmas. For some reason he never got what I wanted. It did not matter, I do not care. He was the only gift I ever needed. He always made me laugh when my dark moods came. How did he always make me feel so beautiful? When the illness came he tried to hide it from me. But I knew ...I knew Even now after all this time I have danced the practiced movements of love with other impostors. But when the dark of night fills my bedroom Its you honey only you. Only you knew how fix me. Tonight I will sleep quietly dreaming of you. As I am wearing your birthday pearls once more.
