Pearl

A grain of sand, you washed into my empty shell. And cautiously I covered you to hide you from each vulnerable truth brought in with every tide and surge threatening to wash you away forever gone in an endless sea I covered you until you were surrounded, suffocated, and you couldn’t see me anymore hear me, feel me, know me anymore. My shell felt as empty as before yet you were always there, hiding, waiting, filling the place where others couldn’t reach growing more beautiful with every moment more precious with every hour every day and each passing year until that tiny grain of sand was just a faded picture of the past a past that fades but doesn’t disappear a past littered with pain, and unregrettable love, A price I’d gladly pay again a past I would not forfeit for the gift of you-. my pearl, my perfect, precious pearl
