if you feel your mind’s in need of a vacation try meditation clear your mind of thoughts breathing softly in and out the heart quietly beats if new, mind may drift return focus to breathing wait for the calmness you may feel lightness as your body relaxes stay in the moment you may see a light let the light fill your body it’s soothing and warm you begin the end open eyes as you breathe out you’ve meditated

What a fine set of senryu on meditation this is. I wish I had the personality to do it,

You could if you'd slow down just a bit, my friend. I was always in too big of a hurry, with too much I wanted to get done; but when I slowed down, it didn't take long to really enjoy the silence and peace meditation brings to me. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

I remember my first meeting on meditation. The teacher gave us five minutes to focus our mind on one subject. Out of 30 students, NO one could focus. Then the teacher gave the sermon on how to meditate and control your thoughts, exactly like your. Loved it.

A creative guide to meditation, Bill. I have tried meditation in the past and it seems I can never quite get my brain to shut up long enough.

I had that problem too, at first, Jerry. Still do sometimes. Thanks for the visit and comments, my friend. Bill

Tom, we don't usually see a guide that is so straightforward and easy to follow--let alone poetic. One person once told me they see objects when they meditate, and I wonder how possible that is. I have to spend a little more time trying it.

I see things when I meditate, mostly just the universe. I do that without meditating sometimes. I just close my eyes and focus on an object or person, and it appears to me. I've always assumed a lot of people do it. Thanks for commenting on my poetry, Duke. Have a great week! Bill

You're welcome, Sara. It's the simple way I started out meditating. Once a person gets used to meditating, going into a mediative state of mind is almost instant. Thanks for the comment, my friend. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

Dear Bill, Your poem is a very beautiful and practical guide to meditation. It captures the essence of the practice in a simple and accessible way. The lines "clear your mind of thoughts / breathing softly in and out / the heart quietly beats" effectively set the stage for a mindful state. The poem then gently guides the reader through the process, acknowledging the challenges ("mind may drift") and offering solutions ("return focus to breathing"). The ending line, "you've meditated," provides a sense of accomplishment and encourages further practice. Bill, this is a helpful and calming poem. It may serve as a valuable resource for anyone seeking a moment of peace and relaxation like me. - Blessings, Daniel

Thank you for the compliment, Daniel. I enjoy meditation and prayer for clearing my busy mind and acknowledging my Creator. I hope this helps some that are reluctant to try meditation. It doesn't have to be long to receive a benefit. Smiles ~ Blessings, my friend. Bill

I liked that you simplified the act of meditation. You're so right...I've felt lightness as my body relaxed...only once did I see the light to which you refer...kind of a transformative experience. hugs from the eastside writing bear
