Peace For Troubled Hearts
As I hang the shining “Star of Bethlehem” atop my Christmas tree
I recall with joy, the greatest miracle there was to be
Two thousand years have passed since; yet, truth still holds
And for me it is not some old folklore; or some legend of old
There is a mighty king who willingly gave up his crown
Donning mortality, he, "love unconditional", came down
Pure love, accompanied by a peace, meant for every man
His words and example were the seeds to plant.
I still believe in miracles even when others can’t digest
I wish for a miracle today in the deafening halls of Congress
That by some magic, they could walk in the peoples’ shoes
Feel the alarming fear of young and old; and I pray they’d choose-
Peace for troubled hearts and all
Relief for hurting people with backs against the wall
