Peace and Poise
It was mid 60s where I reside, and there was no rain in the forecast On such a non-threathning day, I looked and stared above my head
I saw a flag, not blowing in the wind but instead, clinging to the flag pole were the stars and stripes rather tamed and still as the dead
I do not recall having seen such calm, surrenity, and tranquility in nature, for it seems beneath and above the clouds, everything moves
I looked toward the trees and not a limb nor leaf did I see swaying I thought to myself, "What is the meaning of such peace as this?"
But is it not the quest of us all to be wraped in such peace and poise? I knew not the language of that atmospheric display, but it spoke
in the sweet language of God. I am familiar with 'peace like a river', 'like a bridge over troubled waters', but 'like a flag embracing a pole'
was new to me. But if for just a while, my exuberance over the wind, or the lack thereof, was to be cherished forever by me.
